Rustic Seattle Wedding | Melea and Dillan | Seattle Wedding Photographer - Patrick Nied Photography

Welcome to Patrick Nied Photography!

I am a Wedding and Portrait Photographer located in Seattle. Husband to a beautiful wife, and father to the world's cutest 3 year old boy. I've lived in Seattle for the past 10 years and love everything about this area. If we're not strolling around Greenlake or enjoying the sunset at Golden Gardens, we're probably hunkered down at our favorite Fremont Coffee shop. I love being a Wedding photographer, especially in the amazing scenery we have at our fingertips here in Seattle. Whether you're planning for rustic chic at a Woodinville winery, contemporary urban on a downtown sky rise rooftop, or DIY in the Cascades, let me document this once in a lifetime occasion for you and your family! - Patrick

Rustic Seattle Wedding | Melea and Dillan | Seattle Wedding Photographer

Nov 12th, 2016

A rustic barn wedding outside of Seattle with colors of cream, wood, and green, set off by romantic candlelight and a ton of personal details. This was my last wedding of 2016, topped off by an adventurous hike to the top of Rattlesnake Ridge the next day for a bride and groom shoot.

Melea and Dillan met at a Church Youth Group for a New Years Eve party, December 30th 2009. “My first impression of Dillan was not attraction, in fact I thought he was quite immature (not much has changed there haha). Dillan's first impression of me, however, was the opposite. He thought I was pretty and made it his mission to get me on a date.” Throughout the night the two had a chance to get to know each other and Melea quickly fell for Dillan, saying “yes” when he asked her out at the end of the night.

The two became engaged on July 16th, 2014 on the Icicle River, WA. A morning of paddle boarding took the couple to a sandbar outside of Wenatchee, where they stopped for lunch. “As I was munching on a pear, Dillan stood up and told me, "I have a surprise for you, close your eyes." I wasn’t expecting anything because he often finds small little trinkets on his travels and brings them home for me. Well, to my surprise it was not a tiny figure or coin, but a beautiful solitaire diamond ring! He was on one knee when I opened my eyes, and as I covered my mouth trying not to cry he asked, "Melea Helm, will you marry me?" I quickly exclaimed, "Yes!" and he placed the ring on my finger as I hugged and kissed him! The rest of the trip was wonderful of course!”

Upon finding the Barn on Jackson, I was immediately taken by its unique look, history and atmosphere of home. It was the perfect location and I didn't look any further. With the help of Pinterest and my amazing wedding coordinator/florist we were able to create my dream wedding. Honestly, I didn't do much, if anything at all. Kari, the owner of the Barn on Jackson, my entire family, bridesmaids and coordinator decorated the entire barn into the amazing dream I had imagined! My bridesmaids gave me a hard time when I said, "I want all the candles!" Haha - but they were so sweet and we grabbed over a hundred different candles, glass vases and wood rounds to make an elegant/natural barn ceremony/reception! A dream come true!
